The historic Empire Hotel in downtown Sailsbury, North Carolina, has sat empty for decades but is set to get a new lease of life following a $25 million restoration project.

Developers Brett Krueger and Josh Barnhardt kicked off a three-phase renovation of the property last Thursday evening, with a groundbreaking ceremony which took place on Main Street.

The 100,000 square feet property will now undergo a series of renovations which will result in 35 boutique hotel rooms, 38 private residences and a regional American steakhouse.
